This temporary full-time role, reports to the Executive Director and must be filled by and VGN Citizen who is living in community  

The purpose of the is role is to plan, coordinate, advertise and manage a successful General Assembly for Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation to be held at Tl’oo K’at, and is scheduled for August 5 – 7, 2024.  Responsibilities include consulting with the Executive Director and Council; developing a work plan and budget; coordinating and attending meetings; arrange for meals, travel, door prizes, preparing briefing notes and reports for delegate binders; and maintaining a filing system.

Wages: $36-42 per hour, 8 hour days

The Government Services Director holds a senior management position within the VuntutGwitchin Government (VGG) that oversees capital planning, property management, warehousemanagement, community delivery services as well as infrastructure and maintenance. TheDirector also leads strategic planning, develops achievable goals, and implements processes toensure organizational effectiveness as it delivers services to citizens.

The Family Support Worker provides direct and personal family support, prevention, and respite/special needsservices to Citizens and their families in Old Crow. The position is responsible for coordinating and making clientsaware of various programs and services and manages the Safe House.

The Human Resources Manager leads the human resources function for the Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation (VGFN). Itcontributes to an effective and responsive department that leads initiatives and promotes human resource (HR) bestpractices to enhance individual performance and capacity.

Reporting to the Director, the position leads a variety of initiatives for K-12 and for VuntutGwitchin students attending post-secondary institutions to ensure we are meeting educationalobjectives. It further supports cultural knowledge and integration into student learning throughland-based initiatives and in-school supports.

Reporting to the Manager, Health the position coordinates and oversees residential servicesand supports, including housekeeping to community elders and people with disabilities toensure a healthy, safe, and sanitary environment.

Reporting to the Executive Director, as a senior leader within the Vuntut GwitchinGovernment (VGG), the position oversees natural resources, lands, heritage, andenergy programs. It leads strategic planning, develops achievable goals, andimplements processes to ensure organizational effectiveness as it delivers services tocitizens.

The Bus Driver is responsible for the overall safety of students as it transports students to and from Chief Zzeh Gittlit School. The Bus Driver also drives Citizens for special community activities and events as required.

Finance Clerk Trainees will work with the Finance team and learn financial and accounting functions on the job. Trainees learn to organize work effectively ensuring financial transactions are accurate and timely and learn about internal procedures and accounting standards.

The Community Van Driver transports Citizens in Old Crow and is responsible for the overall safety of passengers. The Community Van Driver is also responsible for conducting safety and security checks at VGG buildings and other tasks as assigned.

The Mechanic performs preventative and on-demand maintenance and minor repairs on the Vuntut Gwitchin Government vehicle asset pool (e.g., trucks, snowmachines, boats, quads) and maintains a relevant inventory of parts and materials. The person in this position also provides on-the-job mentorship and direction to develop other members of the Community Services team.

The Policy and Program Analyst leads the development, coordination and evaluation of assigned work projects as directed by VGG strategic objectives. The person in this position supports the Executive Office and departments by providing critical policy analysis and advice on diverse topics to inform decision making.  

The Policy and Program Analyst also carries out research, reviews program goals, revises or develops new program models, and develops and implements policy and legislation for the Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation. Emphasis is on frontline program delivery such as health and wellness, housing, and education policies.

The Property Maintainer performs preventative and on-demand maintenance, minor repairs, and upgrades on existing Vuntut Gwitchin Government building structures and components, as well as on systems and equipment. The person in this position also provides on-the-job mentorship and direction to develop the maintenance skills of Maintainer Helpers. 

The Septic Truck Operator is responsible for driving the vacuum truck and managing the loading and unloading of septic tanks in the community. The Septic Truck Operator also provides coverage to operate other equipment and perform other tasks, as needed.

The Water Truck Driver is responsible for driving the water truck, loading and delivering water to community customers as per the schedule. The person in this position is responsible for adhering to safe water delivery protocols. The Water Truck Driver also provides coverage to operate other equipment and perform other tasks, as needed.

The Lands Manager manages programs and projects to assure the protection and sustainability of land and natural resources for Vuntut Gwitchin settlement lands and traditional territory. It collaborates to develop land related legislation, gather information, monitor land use activities, and conduct meaningful outreach to Citizens and the public. The Lands Manager’s activities have a long-lasting impact on the stewardship of Vuntut Gwitchin natural resources.

The Finance Manager is responsible for the day-to-day functions of the Finance team. The person in this position ensures accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, contracts administration, general ledger, and cash transactions in relevant software systems are conducted in an efficient and accurate manner. The Finance Manager also provides on-the-job mentorship and direction to the Finance team.

The Events and Recreation Manager oversees public Vuntut Gwitchin Government events and recreation programs in Old Crow and in Whitehorse and leads a team to deliver engaging and diverse programming that encourages participation and meet the recreation and wellness needs of Citizens of all ages. The person in this position also provides on-the-job mentorship and direction to the Events and Recreation team.

The Health Programs Manager oversees the operational delivery of health programs and services for the Vuntut Gwitchin Government by implementing plans and systems to protect the wellbeing of Citizens, supporting improvement initiatives, and identifying and promoting best practices. The person in this position also provides on-the-job mentorship and direction to the Health Program team.

The Mental Health Counsellor provides counselling, support and advocacy services to Citizens struggling with mental health and/or addictions.
